We appreciate your interest in employment with Vancouver Public Schools (VPS). All applications are considered and reviewed. The most qualified and competitive applicant(s) that possess directly related experience and expertise, training, and education may be invited to participate in the interview/selection process. As part of the selection process, the District conducts confidential reference checks to include former and present employers and also requires a criminal background investigation. + Previous officiating experience

+ Ability to officiate flag football

+ Knowledge of game and rules and policies

+ Current First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain one prior to the established starting date)

+ Excellent customer service skills

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills

+ Experience which demonstrates strong organizational skills

+ Ability to effectively communicate with and appreciate individuals from diverse backgrounds

+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, business and community groups and/or other members of the public

+ Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Other Requirements:

+ Ability to lift and move moderately sized objects up to 50 pounds

+ Regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements

Essential Functions:

+ Work in a flexible and cooperative manner

+ Treat co-workers, supervisors, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times

+ Serve as a positive role model for students, and practice the behaviors that are expected of our students

+ Officiate Intramural contests

+ Assist with pre and post game logistics and administrative functions

+ Assist with preparation and inspection of the game site

+ Understand emergency/evacuation procedures

+ Provide positive public relations, program promotion, and policy education to participants

+ Verify participant eligibility

+ Attend all officials training clinics

+ Provide a friendly, upbeat and customer service oriented environment at all times

+ Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

It is understood that the district has the right to transfer and assign employees to best fit the needs of the district. Coaches appointed a position in any given school may be re-appointed to the same position for the subsequent school year without further posting.
